I’ve never been to the movies on my own, it’s always been a social occasion. But as part of my quest to learn to enjoy my own company (an extrovert’s nightmare), I decided this had to go on my “50 Before 50” list.
The verdict? I loved it!
And what better way to embrace solo movie-going than by watching Barbie the Movie? I’ve always been a huge Barbie fan. You name it, I had it when I was younger. Barbie was my world. I even held a Barbie-themed party with my Lippie and Laughs crew the week before this trip to the cinema to celebrate the relase of this movie, and of course, Barbie herself.

Going solo allowed me to fully immerse myself in the movie, appreciate the story, and understand why it touched so many people. It was a different experience and a reminder that it’s okay to sometimes do things on my own.
Would I do it again? Possibly. But probably not.
Disclaimer: Yes I saw this Barbie Movie with 30 friends the weekend prior, but didn’t absorb a thing because I was too busy socialising and drinking. I wondered why so many were crying at the end and realised I wasn’t really listening at all, so this was a great excuse to go see it again.
