I’ve always been intrigued by the allure of an Espresso Martini. I’ve seen plenty of friends order them, but I’ve always stuck to my trusty glass of vino when we go out. However, as part of my “50 before 50” challenge, I decided it was time to step out of my “vino comfort zone” and make an exception.
Why an Espresso Martini? For one, it felt sophisticated from my usual choice, and also, because I wanted to challenge my routine and explore something new. I chose an ordinary Monday for this little adventure. Yes, I know, Monday isn’t typically a day for indulgence, and I had given up caffeine over 2 years ago, but sometimes you have to make exceptions for the sake of a new experience.
My old school buddy, Kreena, took a cheeky Monday off to join me and I ordered my first Espresso Martini. And let me tell you, it was worth it! The rich blend of coffee and cocktail was an absolute delight. Only later did I discover that I could have ordered a decaf version, something I didn’t consider at the time, but the original was perfect for that moment.
It was a small but memorable adventure, shared with a dear friend, and a perfect start to my “50 before 50” journey.
