About

I’m Tam and I’m a passionate advocate for living a life rich in experiences rather than accumulating material possessions. For me, the value of life lies in the moments we create, not the things we collect. I believe that experiences shape who we are and offer us memories that last a lifetime. As a minimalist, I find joy in simplifying my life and focusing on what truly matters: meaningful connections, personal growth, and unforgettable experiences.

My journey towards creating a “50 Before 50” list was sparked by a friend’s inspiring “40 Before 40” list that he created with his wife. Seeing their adventures together gave me the idea to embark on my own journey.

One question I get asked a lot is whether I had a list right from the start or if I added experiences as I went along. Rest assured, there was always a list of 50 things, but it did evolve over time due to various circumstances. For example, my husband and I hoped to buy acreage and move before I turned 50, but despite our best efforts, the right property just didn’t come along at the time. Another example is that I originally had more experiences involving wineries or drinking alcohol, but after completing a 30-day alcohol-free streak and seeing the benefits, I decided to replace those with other experiences that better aligned with the new me.

What I’ve loved about this journey is how many friends have reached out to catch up, and the first thing they ask is, “What’s on your list?” It’s been fabulous to involve so many people from both my past and present in this adventure.

Since sharing my list on social media, I’ve been thrilled to see many friends join the bandwagon, each creating their own lists and embracing the challenge of living life to the fullest. It’s been incredible to witness the ripple effect.

Through this site, I hope to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones, explore new things, and cherish the beauty of life’s experiences. I hope you enjoy the stories I share behind each adventure and find inspiration to create your own list of experiences!
